Oct 24: Step Rockets, Yam Haus, and Henry James Patterson

Join Commune at the Turf Club in Saint Paul on October 24 for a night of amazing music and community. Come to support Minnesotan up-and-coming bands Step Rockets, Yam Haus, and Henry James Patterson and a pop-up shop of local vendors.

Step Rockets, the headliner, took off with their 2016 single “Kisser” and haven’t looked back. Since the release of their debut EP Future Nature they continue “to push the boundaries of indie pop with unique instrumentation and progressive songwriting”. The group of multi-instrumentalists build layers of EDM, New Wave and Reggae to launch their music into something that is both fresh and mysterious. Having toured the country at Firefly Festival, Summerfest, and SXSW, their concerts are known to be electric and dynamic. In their music they explore psychedelia, modern hooks, and worldly grooves through expertly layered synth and classic indie rock sound that make them completely unique. Onstage they bring their catchy songs to life so be ready to dance!

Yam Haus’s debut album, Stargazer, explores themes of pain and grief after lead vocalist Lars Pruitt went through a devastating breakup. With a sound inspired by “punchy pop, old-school rock and roll, sensitive folk, and the beat of hip hop,” Yam Haus addresses heavy emotions with lyricism and complex, layered melodies. Band members Pruitt (Vocals, Guitar), Seth Blum (Electric Guitar), Jake Felstow (Drums), Zach Beinlich (Bass) are longtime friends whose natural chemistry and charisma make their live performances a specially vibrant experience.

Henry James Patterson is a young Minneapolis-based indie artist singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. After playing in several local bands and gaining music experience, he recently released his solo EP Cavalier. Patterson’s music shows influences ranging from reggae and funk, to pop and indie rock, and his versatility and openness as an artist is one of many qualities that set him apart.

Chelsea Morales: Popular online for her “fluid art”, Morales creates custom acrylic panels with unique patterns that play with organic shapes and vibrant colors.

Anna Bomb Art who paints large-scale acrylic paintings, with explosive neon colors describes her work as “Neon Horror”. Her artwork explores many different themes including; mental health, horror, pop culture, and street art.
